Job Description:
The Virginia Department of Transportation is actively seeking a skilled IT Security Analyst to join our team and bolster our Information Security initiatives. This pivotal role involves conducting thorough security analyses tailored for procurement teams, ensuring that all activities align with the established Commonwealth of Virginia Information Security Policies and Standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for documenting processes and crafting narratives that effectively communicate complex security concepts to a diverse audience, which includes both technical and non-technical members. You will provide valuable insights into information security practices and methodologies pertaining to IT procurement, while also researching and drafting guidance to ensure compliance with security policies. This position requires a deep understanding of security compliance evaluations and risk analyses, enabling you to make informed procurement recommendations based on your findings. Moreover, you will work collaboratively with various business areas and cross-functional teams to accurately assess business needs, offering strategic consultation on security and risk-sensitive acquisitions. Your expertise will aid in developing comprehensive roadmaps and strategies that align with the agency's key performance indicators. Engaging with architects and technical teams will be essential as you consult on various initiatives, providing tactical direction and considerations for legacy solutions.

Document and streamline processes related to information security;; Develop clear and concise business documentation for diverse audiences;; Conduct research to align IT procurement practices with security policies;; Perform security compliance evaluations and risk assessments;; Provide strategic recommendations for procurement based on security evaluations;; Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and address business needs;; Consult on security initiatives and offer tactical direction;; Engage with technical teams to create effective roadmaps for security enhancements
