Category Manager

Job Description:

    We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Category Manager to join our team in Hamburg. This role is crucial for managing and developing our supplier relationships and risk management strategies to ensure compliance with the highest standards in marine operations. You will be responsible for executing sourcing projects, negotiating contracts, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to foster category-related savings and process improvements. As part of our commitment to sustainability, you will also engage in decarbonization strategies to align with industry goals.

As a Category Manager, you will oversee multiple responsibilities integral to our sourcing and procurement processes.:

    Manage supplier categories and continuously develop our supplier and risk management strategies, Align sourcing strategies with corporate objectives and brand values, Execute and coordinate sourcing projects, including data gathering, defining sourcing approaches, and tendering products, Negotiate with suppliers, ensure thorough decision alignment, and finalize contracts considering time, cost, and quality, Monitor application of contracts and leverage experiences for improvement, Assess procurement processes and expenditure, identifying optimization opportunities, Collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to implement savings and process improvements, Coordinate activities performed by Technical Procurement, Ensure compliance with company policies and the established Sourcing Management methodology

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration
  • Maritime Engineering
  • or Supply Chain Management; Master's degree is a plus
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in Supply Chain Management or Procurement using a structured methodology
  • preferably in the maritime industry
  • Proven experience in price negotiations
  • contract drafting
  • and project and supplier management
  • Strong technical understanding and excellent analytical skills
  • Hands-on experience working with various partners for problem resolution and negotiation
  • Fluent in English with proficient computer skills
  • including Microsoft Office and maritime purchasing software
  • Confident
  • self-motivated
  • and capable of working both independently and collaboratively
  • with excellent communication and results-oriented skills
