Junior Data Scientist
Job Description:
- We are seeking a Junior Data Scientist to drive the data and AI initiatives at Lidl Germany. In this role, you will collaborate with various departments to utilize analytical methods that enhance operational processes and enable more informed strategic decisions. Your combination of business acumen and data science expertise will be pivotal in advancing data and AI efforts within the organization. As part of a global data and AI community, you will identify key questions where data science can deliver significant financial benefits, applying a diverse range of statistical and machine learning methods to evaluate actions, forecast outcomes, and optimize business processes. You will leverage our extensive and advanced cloud-based big data platform while cleaning and integrating relevant data sources for further analysis. Working in interdisciplinary and agile teams, you will manage projects and regularly present findings to stakeholders and management, ensuring that insights are communicated effectively and comprehensively.

As a Junior Data Scientist, your primary responsibilities will include identifying key areas where data science can add tangible value to the business, applying advanced analytical techniques, and effectively communicating results to stakeholders.:
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to define data science opportunities;; Utilize statistical and machine learning techniques to analyze and interpret complex data sets;; Optimize business processes through data-driven insights;; Prepare and present analytical findings to stakeholders and management;; Maintain and enhance data quality through effective data cleaning and integration

Qualifications:
- Completed degree in (business) computer science, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field with a focus on econometrics or data science
- Proficient in German (minimum C1) and English (B2)
- Strong knowledge of regression analysis, machine learning, and optimization methods using tools such as Python, Spark, or R
- Experience with statistical and/or econometric concepts such as effectiveness tests, impact analysis, forecasting, selection bias, etc.
- Ability to understand complex questions and scenarios, analyze them in detail, and present findings to a non-technical audience in a comprehensible manner
