Bioengineer

Job Description:

    A leading research initiative has been established to advance the field of synthetic genomics in life and engineering sciences. The Synthetic DNA Accelerator Lab is focused on providing support to various research teams by creating complex DNA constructs essential for their synthetic genomics projects. This lab is designed to facilitate DNA Writing, similar to how NGS core facilities operate for DNA Reading. Our goal is to centralize and enhance cutting-edge infrastructure, methodologies, and expertise for synthetic DNA sequence assembly and diversification. Additionally, we aim to promote community engagement and public outreach to encourage the responsible implementation of synthetic genomics. This lab is among the few of its kind globally, offering unique opportunities to contribute to a rapidly evolving field. We are seeking two dedicated Bioengineers to join our team starting November first, twenty twenty-four, for a two-year contract with the possibility of extension.

As a Bioengineer, you will play a crucial role in the lab's operations and research projects.:

    Develop and optimize laboratory workflows for assembling and diversifying synthetic DNA designs using innovative DNA manipulation methods., Create and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab processes., Document experimental results and present findings in group meetings., Operate advanced laboratory equipment, including robotics for liquid handling and microbial colony management., Ensure the functionality of lab instruments and manage user access., Engage with customers and address their requests independently., Train new lab members and visiting researchers in DNA manipulation techniques to ensure independent operation., Coordinate the shipping of materials to collaborators and customers., Uphold lab safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment., Monitor lab inventory, manage consumable orders, handle waste, and perform routine equipment calibrations.

  • Skilled in maintaining accurate lab documentation
  • Familiar with common office software such as Microsoft Office or LibreOffice
  • Strong communication skills in English
