Postdoc Protein Production – Immunology, Infection, and Pandemic Research

Job Description:

    Join a leading applied research organization dedicated to innovative ways of early detection, diagnosis, and treatment of diseases caused by immune system dysfunction. Our focus is on developing novel diagnostic tools and therapeutics against infectious diseases resulting from emerging viruses and bacteria, utilizing biotechnology, molecular biology, and microbiology.

As a member of a motivated, multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic products and contribute to scientific publications.:

    Take responsibility for the production and characterization of recombinant proteins in BSL-2 conditions., Manage the entire workflow, including construct design, molecular cloning, production in various host organisms, purification, and biophysical characterization and interaction studies.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry
  • biophysics
  • molecular biology
  • or a related field with equivalent experience
  • Deep understanding of protein chemistry and proficiency in computational structure prediction and engineering tools
  • At least three years of experience in recombinant protein production using advanced cloning and purification methodologies; experience with viral proteins or antibodies is advantageous
  • Familiarity with biophysical methods such as dynamic light scattering
  • size-exclusion chromatography coupled with multi-angle light scattering
  • or microscale thermophoresis
  • Curiosity

  • and a strong motivation to implement innovative tools
  • including AI-based protein design
  • Ability to work independently and in a structured manner

  • Excellent communication and writing skills in English and German
